作者：特里•伊格尔顿，1943年生于英国曼彻斯特。曾长期任教于牛津大学，现为曼彻斯特大学讲座教授；是当代著名的文学理论家和具有独特风格的文化批评家。从1960年代至今，他已出版著作数十种，如《批评与意识形态：马克思主义文学理论研究》 《马克思主义与文学批评》 《瓦尔特•本雅明，或革命的批评》 《文学理论引论》 《批评的作用：从观察家到后结构主义》 《审美意识形态》等，其中多种已被译成中文出版。

译者：陈太胜，1971年生，北京师范大学文学院教授。出版有诗集《在陌生人中旅行》、专著《梁宗岱与中国象征主义诗学》 《象征主义与中国现代诗学》 《声音、翻译和新旧之争——中国新诗的现代性之路》等。
