宽客用数学模型来作赌注，通过数学模型来决定怎么下注可以不押注过大，但后一点在2007年几乎被忘记。赌场总有输赢，在对冲基金从1000亿涨到两万亿，机会变少，但一旦贪心被打开就收不回来，所以只能加大杠杆，造成过度押注。另一方面，模型和现实总有差距，当对冲基金竞争过度，模型被过度利用，和现实之间的差距就被放大，造成奔溃。
