吉姆·罗杰斯生于1942年，5岁时找到第一份工作，在棒球场拾空瓶子。长大后获得耶鲁大学奖学金，入耶鲁大学学习，曾是学校赛艇队的舵手。从耶鲁大学毕业后，又就读于牛津大学的巴里奥学院。曾在美国陆军服务。退役后进入华尔街工作，与另一合伙人共同成立了面向全球的量子基金。此后的10年里，该基金盈利超过4000%，而同时期的标准普尔指数只上涨了不足50%。罗杰斯37岁那年决定退休，可人并没有闲着。

Travel around the world, learning the world beats the conventional wisdom. I admire them. However, the book is pretty dry in general. I don't know how much I learned from it.
The best capitalists are in Communist China.
总的来说很喜欢这本书。以完全不同的视角去看各个国家的习俗，旅行，政治，经济。里面有句话特别喜欢, 大概意思是如果在非洲只待两礼拜的话，我可能会很喜欢这地方。可是当待了9个月之后，那些无法解决无法适应的困境和问题一直都困扰着我们。所以不要轻易的去肯定一个地方，也不要轻易的否定一个地方，很多东西在短期的接触中是无法感受的。
继Investment Biker后看的第二本JRogers的书。很佩服他能够在自己的价值体系里建立起对每一个国家的评价。只有自己的根基足够强大，才可以足够自信地捕捉看到的信息并提炼出观点。去看什么和怎么看这都是本事。这本是在路上听完的，很多地方没集中注意力，下次想再过一遍。
