He has published more than thirty books, has been the editor of a myriad of others, and has received numerous awards and honorary degrees, including the American Academy of Arts and Letters' Gold Medal for Belles Lettres and Criticism. He lives in New Haven, Connecticut, and New York City.

其实只是选集best poems of the English Language的序言。因为轻小拿做通勤读物，后来发现读诗并不适合地铁和火车。然而居然也有不少读入神的时刻，很意外。很多年不读英诗了，准备慢慢把选集读起来。
短小精悍的一本小册子
虽然没有完全懂，但懂得部份也很有启发
读英文诗，很艰涩，但读懂会觉得美不胜收
